Yoga/Exercise

It can do wonders for both mother and baby to get out for a walk with the baby in the sling or stroller. In cold weather, even a baby who is properly bundled can enjoy some fresh air. Of course if conditions simply don’t permit outdoor exercise, there are other options provided below.

Pre-natal yoga is increasingly popular among pregnant women because of how it safely exercises and energizes the mind, body, and spirit. Yoga is an excellent activity for new mothers as it exercises the mind-body connection. Yoga exercises that involves your baby further deepens the mother-child bond.

*New mothers, particularly those who have had a cesarean section, should get clearance from their doctors before beginning or resuming an exercise program. Once you’ve gotten that okay, start slowly and let your body be your guide.

"Women do not have to sacrifice personhood if they are mothers.
They do not have to sacrifice motherhood in order to be persons.
Liberation was meant to expand women's opportunities, not to limit them.
The self-esteem that has been found in new pursuits can also be found in mothering."
Elaine Heffner
